As much as half of the energy used in your home goes to heating and air conditioning. Delmarva Power?s HVAC Efficiency Program offers Maryland customers three great ways to help you save energy and improve the efficiency of your home?s HVAC systems while receiving up to $750 in rebates.?
You can choose the rebate that?s best for you ? helping to subsidize the cost of equipment upgrades & services and leading to continued energy savings in the future.
You can save energy and money by upgrading aging HVAC equipment, especially if the equipment is over 10 years old. Customers who select ENERGY STAR ? qualified replacement equipment can earn $150-$500 in rebates, depending on the equipment selected. While ENERGY STAR ? models may cost more upfront, you?ll likely recoup the costs through energy savings.
According to ENERGY STAR ?, a typical house may lose 20 percent or more of the air circulating throughthe duct system due to leaks, holes and poorly connected ducts. A duct system that is properly sealed and insulated can make your home more comfortable, more energy efficient and safer. As part of this program, a participating HVAC contractor will inspect your duct distribution system and repair any damage or leaks.
Properly maintained heating and cooling equipment runs more efficiently, lasts longer, lowers your energy costs and is safer for your family. A performance tune-up done by one of our participating HVAC contractors will ensure that your unit is clean, has good air flow, provides better temperature and humidity control, and operates at optimum efficiency. Tune-up adjustments typically include cleaning the outdoor condenser, checking for refrigerant leaks, checking air flow, and tightening electrical connections.
Please note that the cost of a tune-up service varies depending on the scope of adjustments and/or repairs necessary to optimize equipment operation, and HVAC systems are required to meet a minimum level of efficiency to earn a rebate.
To participate in our HVAC Efficiency Program, simply follow these steps:
Step 1:? Select a participating HVAC Contractor from the list on our website.
Step 2:? Schedule your service with the contractor.
Step 3:? After the service has been completed, the participating contractor will submit the rebate application for you online. You and your contractor will discuss at the time of service if the rebate check will go to you or to your contractor ? it?s your choice.
Step 4:? Once the participating contractor has completed and submitted the rebate application, a rebate check will be sent to your or your contractor in 6-8 weeks.
