Game Console Launch Prices, A History in Graphs

Gamasutra to the rescue, satisfying our curiosity that is so frequently impaired by our lack of ambition.

First up, here are game system prices exactly as they were upon release, from Atari 2600 to Wii-U:

I remember hearing about the 3DO and being really interested, but then seeing the price tag and realizing my parents would never be down with that. Even today, $700 would be punching a ticket to Segatown.

(As a huge Dreamcast fan, that last sentence hurt me to type.)?
