Tens of thousands of people are set to embark on Europe-wide anti-austerity protests, with Spain, Portugal, Greece and Italy expecting the largest turnouts.

The protests will take the form of demonstrations and general strikes, with schools, hospitals, transport networks and airports likely to be severely affected. Airlines operating in the country including Iberia, Iberia Express, Air Nostrum, Vueling, Air Europa and easyJet are set to cut more than 600 flights including some 250 international routes. Portuguese airline TAP stated it was grounding more than 160 flights, many of them international.

Eurostar are also?experiencing delays?between Brussels, Lille and London and are expecting?disruptions throughout the day. Passengers should be advised to change their travel to another date wherever possible.
