RIM CEO Thorsten Heins reportedly 'clearing house,' laying off numerous executives

With BlackBerry World only weeks away and RIM's earnings report merely hours away, it looks as if newly-appointed CEO Thorsten Heins will be leading it with quite the bang. While Heins has done a truly exceptional job of laying low (really low) during his first few months in the corner office, he's evidently been hard at work rearranging chairs... mentally, at least. According to The Globe and Mail's Iain Marlow, a trusted source has informed him that the BlackBerry maker's head honcho has begun "clearing house," with senior vice presidents and VP-level executives being informed of the imminent changes today. We're tracking down more on the story right now and will update this post as details flow.

Update: The report is up in full, with an unnamed source explaining: "Lots of high level people within RIM were let go today. Quite a few. Big shake up." We're still awaiting official word, which is apt to be found buried deep within the eventual earnings release.

Get up off of that thang! Spa Week?s Spa & Wellness Challenge is on the move and we want to give a pat on the back to those of you who are making an effort to move too. The Fitness Team is getting pulled off? the couch by Dolvett Quince, The Biggest Loser trainer. Dolvett is leading the Fitness Team and he?s challenging his team to take a step (or many steps in place) toward wellness: exercise during commercials. Dolvett won?t take any excuses, so better just do what he says. As a matter of fact, he?s taped what he wants you to do in a short video message, exclusively for you, our Spa Week Daily readers. After a hard outdoor workout, Dolvett taped the below message on his iPhone. Even though the video is a little grainy, you can hear Dolvett?s wellness philosophy clear as a bell? get your booty off the couch and get healthy!

Chevrolet replacing 120-volt power cords on most Volt automobiles

If you're one of the 10,000 or so folks who pay insurance on a Chevrolet Volt, you may have a new cable coming your way. According to The Detroit News and Yahoo! Autos, General Motors will soon be sending out replacement 120-volt charging cords for Volt automobiles, which are said to "offer some more consistency in charging," while also making it more durable. We're told that some of the newfangled chargers have shipped with recent Volts, but the majority of customers were sent home with the older model. Of note, GM won't be swapping out any of those optional 240-volt cords, and the company won't consider this a recall or safety issue. As for getting your replacement? Owners are slated to be notified directly in the "next few weeks."

No damage, injuries in 5.1-magnitude Chile quake

SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) ? A 5.1-magnitude temblor has shaken awake residents of Chile's capital, but no damage or injuries have been reported.

The US Geological Survey reports that the earthquake occurred Saturday at 4:28 a.m. local time, or 0728 GMT. It was centered in the Chile's metropolitan region, at a depth of 66.7 kilometers (about 40 miles).

The University of Chile's seismological service measured the quake as stronger, with a 5.3 magnitude.

The Chilean government's National Emergency Office says no injuries or damage have been reported, and basic services have not been affected.

Cagewriter spoke to Liborio, who has worked with such fighters as Thiago Alves and Tyron Woodley, about why he is looking to wrestling to find his next great star.

"The endpoint is to recruit guys who are done with their careers as a wrestler. Probably senior guys who want to start their MMA career. Some guys are not making it through their careers, the guys who couldn't make the Olympic team. And, we're open. I have some offers for athletes, depending on their caliber of what they can bring to the table. Guys like Bubba [Jenkins], we're recruiting, we're negotiating, and we're willing to invest in them. We're building them from the ground up," Liborio said.

He said he's been looking to wrestlers for years, but attended the NCAA championships for the first time last year. There, he watched Arizona State's Bubba Jenkins win a national title. Not long after, Jenkins joined ATT, where he's won both of his fights with a submission.

Liborio says wrestlers make great fighters because of the culture of the sport.

"Work ethic, athletic ability, but mental toughness of keep going, don't quit. The culture of other sports, that's not as exalted as it is in wrestling. There are great athletes with a great work ethic who are tough. They compete every weekend, they cut their weight."

ATT has created a boot camp of sorts to help athletes who have excelled in wrestling transition to MMA, but it works best when future fighters will open themselves up to learn.

"Those guys who understand they're learning a completely different discipline. Learning, striking, ground game. We have it right now as a science. All those guys who came from just wrestling and go into a kind of boot camp that makes them much better fighters."

Though several wrestlers will pursue Olympic gold this summer or in 2016, most will not make the team. With ATT and other camps looking out for wrestlers, they have a way to "go pro" in their sport.
